You can also choose to override the cookie handling options set by the privacy slide bar within the "Advanced" section of the Privacy tab. The advanced settings allow you to choose how your Web browser handles first party cookies and third party cookies, which are cookies set by Web sites beyond the site you are currently visiting. This is especially useful if you want to have full control over exactly which cookies your Web browser will accept or block.

Prompt before accepting First and Third Party Cookies
If you simply want to know when cookies are placed on your computer you can change your settings to prompt you when a Web site is attempting to place a cookie. By selecting the "Prompt" feature shown in this video tutorial your browser will alert you to the placement of a cookie and request your permission before it is placed. Be aware that some Web sites, especially complex ones, may attempt to place several cookies per Web page.
